about

Released originally in 2008 on lunarflower, this release explored the frozen side of ambient sound. Beginning with the howling winds of Arctic Sun and Weather Experiment, a lonely piano motif merges with the surrounding frozen landscape of eerie drones. Most of the textures suggest white and cold, but there are colours to be found, like stumbling onto an oasis of flowers in the middle of an ice plateau. Subantarctic Phenomena brings a dark icy blizzard to proceedings until Mirror Sea evokes a halcyon setting of a still ocean with not a soul or any life to be seen. Crustacea Parklands goes beneath the surface to a microbial level, where strange lifeforms compete for survival.
